The Golden Rule for any kind of interaction and any kind of publicity marketing is everybody’s thinking, what’s in it for me not what’s in it for you, what’s in it for me personally. So, if you don’t have that in your mind when you’re doing stuff, people will just zone out and probably not come back again or even worse when they’re asked about you, just got aaa… boring! same thing, every time. So, you have to find the right balance which is going on and on about something and also being seen as we expert in that thing.
So, what do you do to be able to push your business?
Well, necessarily being so bland and boring by going on about the same thing. I already give you the answer. Think what’s in it for me. If you’ve got a business that trains people to well, let’s take what I do I train speakers so I’m working on people and how to do public speaking. So, should I talk about public speaking all the time. No, what I want to do is I want to give a 360 version of what would make make a really powerful speaker.
So, who would be my clients managers. Let’s talk about work-life balance. Let’s talk about time management. Let’s talk about recruitment. Let’s talk about finances. Let’s go through all the things that they would be associated with. So, they buy into my world and then when they find out what it is I specialize in, bang!, we can talk about public speaking.
So, in your particular industry doesn’t matter what industry you’re in. You’ll find that there’s a number of different peripheral subjects or people that should be associated with your brand. What did they think about what to make care about on a daily basis. That’s what you want to be posting about.
